The Gaenovium logo is one of the simplest, strongest logo designs in genealogy. Instantly recognisable, the few resolute strokes of the Gaenovium logo expresses such diverse technical, natural and historic concepts and designs a broadcast signal, a gyroscope, ripples emanating outward, the growth rings of a tree, and the concentric canals of an ancient European town like Leiden. It is all that and more; it is the centre of genealogy technology.

Sketches

The Gaenovium logo is richer in meaning and associations than just another stylised tree, but that doesn't mean it isn't one. The first design concepts created in Windows Paint are rough sketches of fractal binary trees, and these were stylised into the more appealing, stronger and simpler yet more meaningful design.

The final design was hand-coded in SVG.
