The Archive-to-Archive (A2A) data format was created for the exchange of data records between archives over Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH). This presentation introduces the A2A data format, the data model behind it, and its extensibility before discussing how it meets the requirements of WieWasWie, a website that lets visitors search a variety of continually updated data from multiple participating archives.

More and more archive are providing record collections as open data, to be used by anyone. Bob Coret has not only been advocating the release of open data for genealogy, but has also integrated many open data sets into Open Archives, a search engine for open genealogy and family history data, giving him a real working knowledge of the state of open data in the Netherlands. This presentation provides an overview of the collections available, data formats and protocols.

With increased availability of digitised civil registration data comes interest in automated reconstruction of families from machine-readable data sets. This presentation focuses on techniques for record linking, including data cleaning, and approaches used to deal with name variations. The presentation is based on work done on the NWO Catch LINKS project, which focussed on automated family reconstruction from digitised BMD indexes for the Dutch Civil Registry, and techniques will be illustrated using the same indexes.

GOV: Das Genealogische Orts-Verzeichnis is a crowd-sourced project of Verein für Computergenealogie e.V. (CompGen). GOV is a place name database that contains current as well historical information. The presentation provides an overview, and in-depth discussion of key technical aspects; using the GOV data and API in applications, and GEDCOM extensions for maintaining identification between applications.
